...I'm actually sitting alone at the airport right now, waiting for it to really start.
Since my last day at work, I've been a bundle of nerves. This morning was particularly bad. Today is the day I've been looking forward to for almost a year. It still feels unreal.
But it's becoming more and more real. When Steven picked me up this afternoon and I finally sat in the car, headed for 'Schipol Airport', I calmed down a bit. However, that changed when we actually stood in the airport. Steven and I had a meal together... well, I could hardly eat anything due to excitement, so Steven ate my food or took it with him :D Then we said a quick and painless goodbye and I went on my own. Poor Steven now has to navigate confusing Amsterdam, which I feel very sorry for, but he will have my eternal gratitude :)
(By the way, the little blue monster is Siggi. Siggi is supposed to take care of me and travel with me. I got him from Lisa and Sarah. He will probably appear in my photos more often, so no one gets confused.)
Then I trudged along with my little suitcase to check in. You don't even need staff for that anymore. I practically printed the boarding pass myself with a machine and then I checked in the suitcase myself too. I put it in a machine, it was weighed, then the sticker thingy was printed out and I had to attach it to the suitcase. Then this machine practically swallowed my suitcase and I hope it ends up in the same plane I'm on. It's quite adventurous here with all these machines. People are hardly needed anymore.
Now I'm sitting here between Burberry, Gucci and Swarovski and I feel like I belong to the high society. Unfortunately, I look like a complete bum :D But I don't really care.
I'm going to wander around the airport a bit more and see what other luxury stores there are.
I want to say a big thank you to the lovely Steven for taking me to the airport. THAAAAANK YOUUUU
You'll hear from me when I'm in Bali :)
