We arrived in China on 04.04. and had a month to convert my temporary residence permit and the family's tourist visas into a permanent residence permit. First, we had to undergo a health check-up.
At the office, we were x-rayed and tested for eyesight like the other foreigners, then blood was taken, ultrasound was done, etc. We have not yet learned whether we meet the certainly high requirements.
The next step was an 'interview' at... whatever the office was called. On site, our German passport photos were first checked for suitability. They met the German passport regulations, but of course not the high Chinese standard! I immediately said that they are all bunglers in Germany😉. The ears are not visible! And what Jule has on her... new ones have to be made. Except for me, of course 😅 the result is impressive!
Then I was asked for an interview. By the way, there is always a lady from our HR department present who speaks both Mandarin and English. In this case, her name was 'Melodie' with a Western name. The officer didn't ask me anything in the interview, but took another picture with his desk camera. Better safe than sorry!
Then it was my dear wife's turn. And in the conversation between Melodie and the officer, the tone suddenly changed to minor. Something was wrong. Melodie then explained to us that the hotel did not report us as arrived in kunshan right away. This seems to be a bigger issue, the children and my wife have to go to the office again, I am allowed to stay for now.
