Banff National Park

Today we left the motorhome at the campground and used the bus connections in Banff. With the large camper, we would have had trouble finding a parking space anyway...

Cave and Basin National Historic Site

First, we visited the Cave and Basin National Historic Site. The exhibition shows the development of tourism in Banff and the surrounding area. It commemorates the discovery of hot springs in 1885, which led to the establishment of the Canadian National Park System.

Banff Park Museum

The Banff Park Museum is one of Western Canada's oldest natural history museums. Many animals native to the area are on display there. There was a lot to see, from various bird species to lynx, wolves, grizzly bears, moose, porcupines, bison, fish, and more.

Buffalo Nations Luxton Museum

The museum provides various insights into the life and everyday activities of the First Nations. The intricately decorated clothes of the women with countless small beads were very impressive.

The museum is located on the beautiful Bow River. Despite the hot 31 degrees, the water was rather cold.

Lake Minnewanka

We reached Lake Minnewanka outside of Banff by bus. The colors of the water and nature are beautiful. You could constantly press the camera shutter. But there are still sooo many lakes to come! 😳

There were some tourists (?) at the lake enjoying themselves on SUP or inflatable animals in the water. Berni and Lisa tested it themselves and bravely put their feet in the water. Estimated 12 degrees 😨...

Tired from the many impressions and walking, we returned to the campground in the evening. Unfortunately, the mosquitoes were back soon... 😏
