From Victoria, we went with detours to two pretty waterfalls on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Like the entire island, this is a bear, wolf, and cougar territory. We could already see two black bears on the other side of an inlet on the beach, but it wasn't enough for photos. Of course, we couldn't resist whale watching here either, but it wasn't quite as successful.
Now equipped with the obligatory bear spray, we also walked various trails: we visited some beautiful beaches and walked through the temperate rainforest.
Afterwards, we continued to Campbell River, from where we will be transported to our next accommodation tomorrow by seaplane: 4 nights 'in the wilderness' - meaning without internet or any other contact with the outside world - just the grizzly bears and us (although in a rather comfortable accommodation, wild isn't really for us...)
