Yesterday, on Day 6, I flew from Bangkok to Surat Thani with AirAsia. It was a very pleasant flight :)

Otherwise, I didn't really do much...

Today, on Day 7, I explored Surat Thani. Surat Thani is the 8th largest city in Thailand and is mostly considered as a transit point/main transportation hub for the islands on the east coast. However, I still wanted to give the city a chance. First, I visited the City Pillar, which was once again very beautiful to see. Then, I took a Sorng taa ou to the Khao Tha Phet area. There is a mountain located in a wildlife reserve, which I hiked up. After 4 days in Bangkok, it was a real change to see forests. I especially enjoyed the tranquility during the challenging ascent.

Keep in mind, I am now in a rainforest area. With temperatures at 29 °C and humidity that is clearly too high, you start sweating just by sitting.

Once I reached the top, I was rewarded with a magnificent view. There is also the so-called Si Surat Stupa (pillar) standing there.

Unfortunately, there were no more Sorng taa ou on the way back, so I had to walk the 8 km back. Every step keeps you fit 😊 Along the way, I passed a coconut plantation. These are well-known in Surat Thani. The special thing is that the coconuts are collected by monkeys. I think I saw a monkey climbing down from a coconut tree.

In the evening, I had a very delicious pizza from Milano, right by the riverside :)
