Our second week on La Palma

ထုတ်ဝေခဲ့သည်။: 18.04.2022

We used our second week for more excursions. First, we went to Los Llanos de Aridane, the largest city in terms of population on La Palma. The next day, we drove to our favorite beach in the south of the island. Due to the volcanic eruption, there is no direct connection to the south, so we had to take a detour through the east of the island. After our beach visit, we visited the nearby 'Salinas de Fuencaliente' in the southernmost tip of La Palma. Here, sea salt is traditionally hand-harvested.

The Holy Week (Semana Santa) is one of the central festivities in Catholic Spain and is celebrated with processions, among other things. During these processions, a statue of Mary or Jesus is carried forward, accompanied by the villagers and a marching band with drums. In Tazacorte, we happened to witness the start of such a procession when we were walking through the town in the evening.

Today, we took a trip to the northern part of the island. It is much greener there than in the west because it rains more frequently. However, due to the northeast trade winds, it is also much windier than on the west side, which is sheltered from the trade winds.
