Denmark

Let's go on the next adventure. We take the train to the vicinity of Düsseldorf and pick up a camper there, in which we will be traveling for the next few weeks to explore Scandinavia.

In the first few days, we drive (or rather Christian drives) to Flensburg. We have an unpleasant collision with a pigeon on the highway, which unfortunately does not survive our rendezvous. While I sit in the car in tears, Christian drives to a rest area and removes the remains of the pigeon from the windshield wipers. Take a deep breath and then we continue.

We cross the border to Denmark and first stop in Ribe. Ribe is the oldest city in Denmark. The entire old town is under monument protection and the houses are crooked and askew. The cobblestone streets also stimulate the bladder of every wheelchair user. But since there is a public disabled toilet that is very clean, all the trouble is quickly forgotten.

At the parking lot on the outskirts of Ribe, we park on a secluded parking lot because we want to try out the mobile indoor shower. In doing so, we forget my wheelchair in the parking lot. Luckily, Christian notices the loss the next day just as we want to head to Skagen. That was a close call...

In Skagen, a tractor with off-road trailer (best invention!) takes all lazy and disabled people along the beach to the northernmost point of Denmark. At the tip of the beach, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea meet, and we see a seal swimming in the shallow water of the Baltic Sea.

Next, we visit Råbjerg Mile, Denmark's largest wandering dune, which moves about 15 meters every year.

Through Hadsund, Aarhus, and Middelfart, we stop on the island of Møn, and Christian's beloved binoculars come in handy. Animals and stars can be observed perfectly with them in the evening.

The next day, we get to know the capital city of København. Like typical tourists, we walk and roll to Nyhavn Harbor, Amalie Garden, Frederik's Church, St. Alban's Church, the Citadel of Copenhagen, the Little Mermaid, Rosenborg Castle, and Rundetårn. Before crossing the Øresund Bridge to Malmö in the afternoon of the following day, we spend the morning in Tivoli. Of course, the amusement park is not as spectacular as EuropaPark and not as expensive, but it's still fun.
