Today, on our last day, we went to Belval. In the past, there were large steel furnaces here where steel was melted. Today, these furnaces are no longer in use. The largest project in Europe has been under construction here for 20 years. Around the old facilities, which have been beautifully renovated, a residential and university campus has been built. We were fascinated by this large area. Everything came together. The most modern buildings and the old furnaces. In between, lots of greenery, mainly grass, and ponds. We had a great view of all of this from the 2nd blast furnace, which has been transformed into an observation tower (about 40m high). Dittmar was excited about the firing furnace with all its hoses, pipes, and compressors. Everything is still in its original condition.

By now, the new neighborhood is well connected with many bus connections. This allows for quick access to the large department store, the medical center, and the supermarkets. We bought our dinner at the supermarket. We didn't want to go to a restaurant again. Before that, we went to the university building where we could log into the secure internet and check our emails on fancy sofas. Of course, in an air-conditioned room. 😊

Belval has left a strong impression on us.

Das klingt sehr spannend. Kenne ich auch noch nicht. Mal schauen, ob ich das bei einem Europa-Aufenthalt mal mitnehme. Auf jeden Fall habt ihr mich inspiriert :-)
