Today we left Peloponnese to head back north. We didn't drive on the millennium construction between Rion and Antirion, or Peloponnese and mainland, but chose the ferry. It only costs half the price and offers a better view. The bridge was long considered an unrealizable construction, as the mainland and Peloponnese drift apart by a few millimeters every year and the area is also at risk of earthquakes. But technology is advancing and so the 3.2 km long construction could be inaugurated in 2001 by the coach of the Greek European champions in football, Otto Rehagel. It can withstand wind speeds of up to 120 km/h and earthquakes of at least magnitude 7.

After the bridge, it was time to hit the highway and cover kilometers. We are now not far from Igoumenitsa, near Parga, at a campsite and will enter Albania tomorrow or the day after. It might be a bit difficult with the posts then, as Albania is not in the EU and we rely on WIFI. So if you can't read much from us for a few days: don't panic, eventually we will travel back to the EU and then it will work again with posting.
