Insanely beautiful bike tour in Bali 🤗

Today, biking was finally on the agenda 😂. We started at 8:30 am. Ketut (Guide) and Butu (Driver) picked us up from the hotel on time. We had a one-hour car ride ahead of us. During this time, Ketut explained everything about the tour and the area👍 that we passed by car. It was really interesting, the closer we got to Mount Batur, the more fertile the area became. Mandarin and banana plantations, large fields of marigolds, cabbage, etc. were constantly next to us.

Before we started with the bikes, Butu stopped at a stunning viewpoint overlooking the volcano and Lake Batur. I was speechless, I rarely saw something so amazing - WOW. To see a volcano up close and then the lake right next to it, it was really impressive. This alone would have made the trip worth it.

After that, we were driven to our starting point. Our bikes were already ready. They were MB bikes in a so-so condition, but they served their purpose and that was okay. What is also worth mentioning, we were the only ones who booked the tour for today, so we were alone with Ketut. After adjusting our bikes, we were ready to go. There were fruit plantations on both sides, and there was so much to admire I didn't even know where to look.

Most of the time, we were going downhill, so we could let the bikes roll and I took photos from the bike.

Then we went on a small narrow path through the jungle, but luckily it was only a short stretch. We passed by small villages, the locals were all very friendly and greeted us with a friendly "Hello". Some children even high-fived us. Reis, the rice, was drying on the streets, you really had to be careful not to drive into it.

We spent the first stop at a local family's house, where Ketut showed us how they live. That was also very interesting. There was a small wood stove in the kitchen, where they cooked. There was no running water, no dining area. People eat everywhere, usually outside the house. The children from the family then tried to sell us crocheted bags, but we decided on a "beautiful hairband". The kids were happy that we bought something.

Then the tour continued, and after the fruit plantations, we came across endless rice fields and terraces. Mega mega mega, I can't write it often enough, they just look amazing. We rode along a small path between the rice fields and stopped there to take photos. The farmers working in the fields came to us and chatted with us briefly. That was also very nice and funny. Then the tour continued along the rice fields and I really had to concentrate on cycling because I was constantly distracted by the view of the beautiful green rice terraces.

We passed through a small village again, where there was a truck loaded with pigs and three trucks loaded with chickens by the roadside. Hmmmmm, this sight was not nice because both the pigs and the chickens were crammed together. Ketut said, that's how they transport in Bali.

At the end of our bike tour, we were served a delicious lunch in the middle of rice fields and then Butu drove us back to our hotel! We are still totally thrilled about how beautiful this tour was today and what we experienced/saw! We spent the rest of the day at and in the pool!

We greet you warmly from Ubud 🤗
