Tag 113 - 114 'It's pouring like buckets...'

Ippubblikat: 28.01.2020

So Monday it was... we passed Cairns. The past few weeks it's always been a number - 1150km/800km/376km/168km...

But the actual Cairns came on the 29th of January because for now we just passed through to continue our way to Cape Tribulation. The past few days we have read a lot about this amazing and unique place. It lies in the middle of the 'Daintree Rainforest' and is inviting for a day tour. The Daintree Rainforest is one of the oldest rainforests in the world and is also the largest contiguous tropical rainforest in Australia 🌴🌳🌱🌾🎋...

So we set off from our campground and passed many lush green meadows and forests.

By the way, these lush green colors are currently due to the loooot of rain. In the mornings and afternoons, it rains buckets. At night, the rain drums us to sleep. Between December and April, it's the rainy season up here. Fortunately, our Riddler and his cap are waterproof!

So after we started our journey into the rainforest, we had to cross a ferry. Here's another sign that has been passing by more often lately, 'Attention Crocodiles'. Yes, unfortunately, swimming up here has decreased because of these animals. And the sea is also off limits because there are little nasty jellyfish living here.

After a ferry crossing and another 60 minutes of driving, we reached our destination. A small village with some accommodations and access to the sea. The drive there was more spectacular than the place itself. We walked to the beach and the viewpoint. Everywhere you could see tropical flora and fauna. After our lunch (snack, as Falk always says), we headed back to the campground with 10 extra mosquito bites. Yeah, those little nasty creatures are everywhere. We had to 'clap' each other today, but only because of the 🦟 🤣🤣...

Now we're lying in the rooftop tent and listening to the rain...☔☔🌧🌧

Goodnight
