After our stay in Lijiang, we took the high-speed train to Kunming. We were only in the city for a few hours to avoid making our travel route to Guangxi Province too long. Kunming is worth mentioning, though. At first glance, it's not a particularly beautiful city, but there is a certain coolness that radiates from this city and its residents. When we arrived, two people approached us asking if we needed help: a middle-aged woman who didn't speak any English but still wanted to help us (we were looking for the entrance to the subway) and a young woman with good English skills who helped us find the right exit for the subway. The sun was shining, people were all friendly and in good spirits, and we were infected by the positive atmosphere. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time in the evening for anything other than looking for a new top for me (of course, only in the international clothing stores, otherwise almost nothing would fit me - which is surprising, because there are quite a few not-so-slim Chinese women) and eating out. Sightseeing wasn't possible, which wasn't a problem for a change.
Unfortunately, we didn't take many photos in Kunming. The shaky, blurry photos of the Humdinger restaurant will have to do! Just imagine blues and soul music playing in the background, while beer is being chugged at the tables, dice and/or drinking games are being played, and burgers are being cooked - all of this of course mixed with a lot of cigarette smoke.
