By now, it doesn't take long for me to feel at home in a new place. The feeling arises as I enjoy my morning coffee today, just like yesterday, at the café around the corner, directly across from the local market 'Marché des Capucins'. Yesterday, I bought local fruit here for breakfast. I noticed that the last time I went shopping was still in Spain. The price difference is clearly noticeable... :-D
I like Bordeaux. Sometimes I feel like I'm in Africa. Not only because of my CS host Amadou from Senegal, but also because of the diversity of colorful people from different cultures on the street.
Amadou is an inspiration for me, just like many encounters on this journey. Hearing his story, learning more about Senegal and its culture, is very impressive and makes my longing for Africa grow. Our passion for cooking also connects us. After an extensive walking tour through the city, we cook Senegalese Maafé - vegetables in a spicy peanut sauce with rice - a recipe that I immediately add to my repertoire.
