The journey has begun.
Still a somewhat surreal feeling, but the first stage is done and we are happy.
The day started with the ICE train from Hannover to Hamburg at 9:20 - unbelievably on time. 😄 A Danish EC and a slightly crowded IC finally took us to our first destination after about 5:30 h including passport control - Odense, the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen.
What we have seen of the city after a first little walk is really beautiful. Many old, small, and colorful houses close together, green areas everywhere, cafes, bars, and restaurants all around.
The fairy-tale theme, by the way, runs like a red thread through the whole city, e.g. in the form of sculptures. So a visit to the Andersen Museum is definitely planned for tomorrow before we continue to Copenhagen. We have already seen his birthplace from the outside today.
Our first judgment of airbnb is consistently positive as well - a nice little room in a beautiful old house in the middle of the city and a very nice host.
In the evening, we were picked up by acquaintances (note: a family that Lena knows from riding in Iceland) and had a very nice evening with them. We laughed and talked a lot, ate an ice cream cake with flowers, petted Icelandic horses, and freshened up our English. An all-around successful evening.
Tomorrow afternoon, we will continue directly to the next stage towards Copenhagen - the first capital on our journey.
So that we can tackle the next day full of enthusiasm, it's time to go to bed now.
Good night from the Railway Girls and see you tomorrow!
