New day, new adventure I thought to myself. And that's exactly how it was. π
Now I had to figure out how to get cheaply from Lat Krabang to the Southern Bus Terminal, where my bus was leaving at 7:30 pm. I had to go through the whole city to the other side.π
I could have made it easier and taken a taxi for 1.5 hours and paid around 25-30 euros. But since I try to travel as cheaply as possible, I decided to use the public buses and it took me twice as long to get there.
β’ As they always say, 'Time is money.' But let's look at it the other way around: 'If you have time, you don't need much money.'π
Then I checked first how to get there and what transport options I had, for this I recommend the following link:
https://www.rome2rio.com/en/
You can use Rome2rio in many countries, you just have to enter where you want to travel from and to, then you will be shown all the options with prices and estimated duration.π
Before I left the hostel, I walked along the main street again to see if I could find a bus station. My bus didn't leave until the evening and I had a lot of time.
Luckily, I could leave my backpacker at the hostel.
First, I had to go back to the airport to continue from there.
Finally, I approached a Thai person and asked her. I was lucky because she spoke good English and even showed me the bus station, how to get to the Airport Bus Terminal (which was 10 minutes away from the airport). But from there, there was also a free shuttle to the airport.
I thought to myself, great, I can already get to the airport, even without a taxi.πͺ
So I walked back to the hostel and had my *very heavy* backpackerπ given to me to leave soon.
I don't even know if I should tell you this now, but I'll just do it.π€£
Well,^^ when I was about to leave, I saw a well-built young man outside the hostel, who seemed a bit bored to me at first glance.π€π
'I'm laughing so hard right now'.ππ
Then I just asked him if he had some time to carry my heavy backpacker to the bus stop, which was a 15-minute walk away.π
He said: Sure, I can do that.π Yeahhhhhh, good man, I thought to myself.π I was very very happy not to have to carry my backpacker.π
On the way to the bus, I started talking to him a bit. He's from New Zealand, just arrived in Thailand. He only booked one night in the hostel and then wants to go to Chiang Mai as well. Like the two I met the day before.π Somehow everyone wants to go to Chiang Mai.π But he told me that he had already been to Phuket and liked it there. So let's see. π
Then I sat in a small van with lots of other Thais on the way to the Airport Bus Terminal. When we arrived there, I asked again which shuttle I should take to the airport and waited. 30 minutes later, I was sitting in the free shuttle to the airport.π
Now I had only paid 30 cents for the return trip instead of about 4 euros for the one-way trip. π
π Unbelievable, isn't it?
Arriving at the airport, I had to go further into the city to Khao San Road. Taxi or bus? Of course, I chose the bus again.π
β’ So here's my tip for you, do NOT take a taxi at the airport, rather ask around if you don't find it right away and definitely take bus S1 if your accommodation is near Khao San Road. The bus costs only 60 Baht (about 1.60 euros) instead of 400-500 Baht by taxi (15.00-20.00 euros) π The taxi would take just as long as the bus.ππππ
Then I went downstairs to the 1st floor, where the public taxis and buses are signposted. Once outside, past the taxis, across the street, and there I saw the buses. I asked again briefly and then I was sitting on the bus to Khao San Road.π
I was supposed to get off at the 1st stop after Khao San Road, as it would be closer to the next bus I needed to get to my destination.
β’ Mom, please skip the next paragraph!!!! It wouldn't be good for your heart!!! Thank you!!!πβ€π
Then suddenly, I was 'dropped off' π
in the middle of a narrow curb between two busy streets.π
When I got off, there was still a lane I had to cross, and all this in the traffic.π The bus driver honked a few times so that the motorcyclists or tuk-tuks wouldn't run me over right away, and she quickly said to me several times in a row 'Be careful'.ππ
π
From there, I should then wait for the next bus or call a taxi.ππ€£
Since I didn't want to stand there for long, I quickly decided to hail a tuk-tuk.π
Tuk-tuks are not exactly safe, but since I love fast driving anyway, I wanted to have fun for my last stretch of the journey. π
β’ Under my Insta account: steffi_traveller, I will soon upload the video of my tuk-tuk ride. ππ
With slightly tousled hair, I arrived at the Southern Bus Terminal (1 hour before departure).ππ
Now I'm sitting on the night bus and writing, writing, writing. Everyone else is already snoring here.π
I'm signing off for now.β
Yours, Steffi π
