We are family

Diterbitkan: 27.05.2018

For a long time, everyone has been excited about THE event of the school year, baskets were collected for auction, cake donations were requested, and a lot of advertising was done: The International Family Day (IFD) took place this Saturday.

The Muhs family went there by taxi, then Philipp wanted to show us his kindergarten first. So we went to the rooms of the little ones and met his teacher there. She told us that Philipp already understands a lot, often answers in English, and sometimes even in Chinese 😮 our little big one surprises us time and again...

Afterwards, the tension was almost palpable. All the crowds of people pushed towards the sports field for the annual Parade of Nations. Everyone is asked to participate in clothing that is typical for their country. So we joined the German section. Philipp received a football jersey with matching pants from a mom here, and Gregor also wore a Germany shirt. Because we weren't there when the T-shirts designed for this day were ordered. But many people also wore dirndls or the like. It was really great to see how the other nations presented themselves. Unbelievable how many nations there are at one school! And it's being celebrated.

And what have we taught you? What do the Chinese like the most? Right! FOOD!! So almost every country had its own booth where it offered its delicacies. Well, neither the one Israeli nor the two Estonians did it all by themselves, but otherwise there was plenty to eat spread over two floors. Finally, Leberkäse (meatloaf) 😕 well, I can easily go without that for two years, but there was DÖNER (kebab)!!!! 😀😀😀

After we dutifully tried many things, and also discovered a - hold on tight - Thermomix booth, we went to the sports field, where Philipp pursued his passion for soccer and Jule could also move around. Philipp also showed us some of his kindergarten friends and we talked to some acquaintances that we know from the playground, etc. For example, with Diana and Walther from Australia, although Walther grew up in Göppingen 😃

After the beautiful festival, we walked to the train, bought fresh fruit by the roadside on the way, and drove towards our apartment. In the train, I met a Chilean woman whom I know from the playgroup. She told us that she had also lived in Germany for a year. And where? In Aalen! The world is so tiny, unbelievable! Truly a big family 😁
