Reunion

October 3rd: Tuesday

It's always special to meet up with friends or family in a far away country.

And it's even nicer when it's your own brother. Nils and Gabi had booked an overnight ferry crossing and so we were able to meet at “our beach” in the afternoon.

Michel had just woken up from his afternoon nap and greeted them both with a big laugh.

We both really wanted to have our obligatory cappuccino and hadn't yet visited the beach bar from the day before. So we took Nils and Gabi there, made ourselves comfortable and allowed Michel to do the rounds on everyone's lap until he slowly got tired and we started our way home. We said goodbye to Nils and Gabi back home and wished them a pleasant journey.

In the last two weeks the two of them have completely circumnavigated the island and that is definitely still on my bucket list. But after just two days, or rather after just 2 minutes, on the beach, it was clear to us that we would definitely visit this island again. Sven is already planning for his second parental leave.

Today I went for a short run in the morning, 7 relaxed kilometers before breakfast, with a view of our traditional Camper muesli.

Even though the section of beach near our campsite is very beautiful, we wanted to see something different today and took the short walk down the coast in the morning.
We had already chosen a small beach in advance that was supposed to be more intimate and quieter.

The journey was only 15 minutes, of which 10 minutes had to be covered on poor gravel roads. Driving on such a road with a camper is always more unpleasant than with a normal car, as it tends to shake plates and cups. After we had managed that, we parked in a small paid parking lot and walked the last few meters to the beach.

The bay is significantly smaller, but also much quieter and less visited. I would argue the water here is even more beautiful. We have set up our camp so that we have enough distance from the rest of the visitors. Of course with the foresight to be able to put Michel to sleep.

Michel was kind enough to start his nap quite early today and the two of us even dared to go swimming together for a few minutes - always with an eye on the beach shelter, of course.

Unfortunately, a short time later another family pitched their tents next to us and it only took a short time before the other baby's crying woke up our baby. As I sit here, looking out to sea and writing this line, my husband is trying to rock our child back to sleep - in the carrier, of course; still our important gadget.
