Today I left my hostel in downtown Vancouver and traveled to my guest family in the highlands (North Vancouver).
I spent the night coughing almost constantly, which was pretty embarrassing and exhausting, but the breakfast made up for it. :)
I decided to visit Sunset Beach before leaving, so I went there with all my luggage, heading south (about 2km). From there, I could see Granville Island, which has a very popular food market. I thought it would be a good idea to visit the island with my two backpacks and camera bag beside me. So I did. I took a ferry and went over. There was a large hall with loads of food: fruits, vegetables, meat, cheese, handmade crafts.... It was gorgeous!!! I found something for my mom and sister, but my back hurt so much. When I went back, I had to walk another 2.5km to the coast, where I took the sea bus to North Vancouver. I was surprised that it only cost 3 CAD, while in Hamburg, you have to pay 30 Euro to ride a sea bus. :D And I can tell you, it wasn't very special. :D
The bus driver took me through the highlands to my guest family's house, where they have a thick, loud, red cat. I think I will feel comfortable here. *haha* When I look out of my window, I can hear a small creek and see the forest.
All in all, I am pretty exhausted. My back and feet are sore. I will rest and relax during a late yoga session.
By the way, it's super convenient to be able to rest your head or camera on the front backpack that you wear on your belly every now and then. You can actually place all sorts of things on it, you just shouldn't forget that you've placed something there. :D
