There was already a local festival in Corrión. Because of this many stores are closed. The same applies to restaurants and grocery stores. Fortunately, I had something to eat in the hotel restaurant, except for the Spanish style, only from 7.30 p.m. When arrived, a little after the seventh and middle, the middle of the restaurant was already occupied. I also provide a table for 4 people. I felt a little alone on the side of all the tables. It changed later when the restaurant was very busy and a young couple wanted to eat. They already knew clearly the people who could sit at my table.
Alison appeared immediately, just like her ex-wife Thorston. So that we can quickly start speaking. The friendly couple travel from Australia and meet on the Camino de Santiago. From here on they covered exactly 405 kilometers by recording. It's late for me and I want to make planes for the morning. So I think I'll be leaving soon, they sent me a message and I hope to get news about it when I arrive in Santiago. Before this I'll let you take a photo on the table to post here on the blog.
At first hour of the morning, at 0°, it was colder than ever during my bike ride. So I want to buy looser gloves and the store will not open until 10am. For this reason you should also make more heat. Then you also found a store where you could buy milk. That's what annoyed me from a little bit after the 10 minute ride to Burgos.
As I don't like the pilgrimage route today, I decided to take the N-120 with as little traffic as possible. It was quicker and did not interrupt me on the pilgrims' path. So that the temperatures have improved rapidly and we are currently in Burgos at a good time. How not it is very fun to ride a bike through a big city, intent on leaving the city after visiting (from outside) the huge cathedral. So far the chosen accommodation has been folded down to about 20 kilometers. I love this hotel because I don't want to start the morning with traffic stress.
Are you afraid of the obstacles that exist on the road to calm the traffic? If that's the case, we shouldn't go to Spain. Oh no, if the peonzas get out. In some cases all the intersections form a circle. Both the umbrellas and the roundels also prove inconvenient for the cyclists and can also prove dangerous. I passed twice on the corner where I passed a car and then I lost control of the right without making any signals. It's good to always expect situations like this.
Yesterday was a local holiday in Corrión. Therefore, many shops were closed. This also included restaurants and grocery stores. Fortunately, there was something to eat in the restaurant belonging to the hotel, although Spanish style only from 7:30 pm When I arrived shortly after 7:30 am, half of the restaurant was already full. Nevertheless, I got a table for 4 people. I felt a bit lonely next to all the full tables. That changed later, when the restaurant was really full and a young couple wanted to eat. I let the staff know that they were welcome to sit at my table.
Alison introduced herself straight away, as did her husband Thorston. We quickly got chatting. The friendly couple comes from Australia and is on the Way of St. James. From here, they still have exactly 405 kilometers to go. It was soon getting late for me, I wanted to make plans for tomorrow. So I had to say goodbye soon, gave them my flyer and now hope to hear from them when they arrived in Santiago. Before that, I was allowed to take a photo of both of them to publish here on the blog.
At 0°, it was colder in the early morning than it had ever been on my bike tour. So I wanted to buy warmer gloves and the shop didn't open until 10 am It should be warmer by then. In the meantime, I also found a shop where I could buy milk. So I was ready to leave and shortly after 10 I set off towards Burgos.
As I didn't like today's route of the pilgrims, I decided to ride on the N-120, which had little traffic. That was quicker and I didn't get in the way of the pilgrims. So I made good progress in pleasant temperatures and arrived in Burgos at a good time. As it's not much fun to ride through a big city on a bike, I tried to get the city behind me after viewing (from the outside) the huge cathedral. It was still almost 20 kilometers to the accommodation I had chosen. I chose this hotel because I don't have to start tomorrow with traffic stress.
Do you often get annoyed by traffic-calming speed bumps on the road? If so, then you should never go to Spain. Or not if you hate roundabouts. Almost every intersection has a roundabout. Both the speed bumps and the roundabouts are a hindrance for cyclists and can also be dangerous. I've already had a car drive past me on a roundabout twice and then turn off to the right without using its indicator. It's good that I always expect situations like this.
