First, I would like to catch up on something from yesterday that is very important to me. I stayed at the Hotel Santa Filomena in Santiago. This hotel is very close to the most important sights and I can highly recommend it. There is a good room for cyclists with direct access from the street. There is also a socket in the room where e-bikes can be charged. I would especially like to praise the siblings who run this hotel. Eva welcomed me - there is also a photo of her - with great warmth and helpfulness. The next morning I met Avelino, the brother. He was also very friendly and helpful. I would love to come here again.
Yesterday's hotel in Melide, which only has 4 rooms, was also good and very centrally located. Unfortunately, the woman at the reception doesn't speak English, but she was able to help herself with her cell phone.
As usual, I set off before sunrise. That's not a good thing at the moment, as I'm driving east, right into the sunrise. And as long as the sun is low, it's very blinding and oncoming cars without lights are almost impossible to see.
Today it was very nice and not too windy, but very cold. My first major climb was up to 1,720 meters. The sun had not yet broken through here, and there was heavy fog, which made it even colder. The cold really got to me on the subsequent descent to Portomarin. I rode here for a long time at over 50 km/h and the cold wind made my whole body cramp. I had to keep getting it out of this state of rigidity, because it was much safer to ride relaxed.
Nevertheless, I didn't quite make it to Portomarin. A kilometer away there was a large parking lot where I could warm up a bit by running and doing some "exercise." After that I quickly got to Portomarin, where I warmed up in a restaurant with a hot chocolate. I also got half a liter of hot water for free, which I used to make hot noodles. Then the sun came out and I started uphill again. Both things helped me warm up.
This time, too, there was a big climb of several hundred meters. And my battery was put to the test again, so I'm excited to see how it works out over the next few days, as there are two big mountains ahead of me.
Once again, I often felt like I was in Switzerland. I took a photo where the Weissenstein in the Jura can be seen in the distance. At least that's how it can be interpreted.
Since all that is left is blue sky and the sun is shining, the cold on the further descents is no problem. And yet I always think that I will have to regain the height I lost afterwards.
I also always think about my brake pads, which are subjected to stress. The front brake has already done thousands of kilometers and the rear one was also replaced before I set off. And as luck and chance obviously dictated, I passed a bike shop in Sarria that made a very good impression on me. Without thinking twice, I went in to ask. And he took the time to determine that the front brake needed replacing, which he did straight away. Including the materials, it cost less than 25 euros. I communicated with him in French via a friend who was there at the time - a language that I like and will need in a few days anyway.
I would have liked to continue my journey, but my battery was running low. So I used Google Maps to find a simple hotel nearby that fully met my needs for the day.

First I like to think that something is very important to me during the day. I stayed at the Hotel Santa Filomena in Santiago. This house is very close to the main attractions and very recommended. There is good space for cyclists with access directly from the street. There is also a power socket in the room where you can charge electric bikes. In particular, I like to embarrass the friends who run this hotel. Eva received me, there is also a photo of her, with great quality and availability to help. The next morning I met Avelino, the brother. It is also very friendly and serviceable. I like being new here.
Located in Melide where there are 4 rooms and it is right in the center of the city. Unfortunately, the receptionist doesn't speak English but can help with her cell phone.
Like the majority of people, I left before I fell in love. It's not that good at this moment because I'm leading this, just leading the lover. And while the sun is low, it's very dark and the cars seem to be heading in the opposite direction without their lights being quite impossible to see.
Today I am very nice and I have not had any wind, but I have been very cold. My first important subida was 1,720 meters. The sun hasn't come yet, it's a thick snow, it's even colder. The cold affected me greatly on the way back to Portomarin. I was driving at more than 50 km/h for a very long time and the cold wind was so strong that my whole body was tense. One and again they say that this state of paralysis is because when it is liberated it becomes much safer.
Even so, not arrived in Portomarin. I have a large parking space a kilometer away where I can get a little warm and go to the gym. Then you quickly arrive in Portomarín, where you can warm yourself with hot chocolate in a restaurant. I also drank a few liters of free hot water, with the hot water being given to me. Then the sun rose and we went down to the mountain. They helped me warm up.
This too has been a huge subtraction of a few meters. And my battery is running low again, so I'm impressed to see how it works in the next few days because there are 2 big mountains ahead.
Once again I felt transported to Switzerland. Here is a photo where you can see the Weissenstein lake in the Jura. Less than that, it can be interpreted.
Just as now you see the blue sky at night and feel the warmth of the sun, the posterior cold drops are no longer problematic. And without embargo, every time someone tries to recover this lost height.
Always poor quality brake pads as they are a little too tight. The front brake has miles of track and the rear was also replaced before starting. And like the azar and me luckily obviously, I passed by a bike shop in Sarria which made a very good impression on me. Without thinking twice, I'll take a moment to ask. Here, they immediately noticed the time and determined that it was necessary to replace the front brake, which was also canceled. The material included does not cost more than 25 euros. I communicated with him in French through a friend who was there at that moment. So, in a language that I like and that I need in every way within a day.
In reality, I would have liked to continue my trip, but my battery capacity was not sufficient. So I found a very popular hotel near me using Google Maps that completely satisfied my current needs.
