Today we said goodbye to Louisa, Ingrid, and Eckard, Martje's Australian family branch, and with that, we also bid farewell to our beloved home in Little Hampton near Adelaide. It somehow took some effort to gather ourselves and move on.
Travel fatigue? I don't think so, it was simply very beautiful, comfortable, and worry-free there:
First of all, our own bedroom with a comfortable bed and bathroom, situated in an unpretentious, elegant house surrounded by a fruit, vegetable, and rose garden.
Then the food, the food! Ingrid and Eckhard almost celebrated the (especially evening) meals. Everything was freshly cooked, with fresh herbs from the garden and lots of fruit and vegetables from the local market. Almost every day (8 cakes in 9 days) a new cake: apple cake, apple strudel, apple crumble, spiced pumpkin chocolate cake, pumpkin cake, coconut brownies, chocolate tart, banana cake.
The evenings accompanied by appropriately chosen music, sometimes classical, sometimes jazz-infused chansons, always with an aperitif and a red wine with dinner. I think maybe only a star chef would serve even more sophisticated dishes.
It was school vacation, so we could spend a lot of time together, picnicking in botanical gardens, strolling through markets, going on trips to wine tastings and local artists in the countryside, going to the beach and building sandcastles, to Adelaide Downtown for Australian football and musicals, everything very casual and relaxed.
