Florence 2024 - Day 6

Sunday, 07 July 2024 – Day 6

After coffee and dolci at the Fattoria di Maiano we start our journey home.

No problem on the autostrada, in Venice we drive straight on instead of taking the bypass and the card payment goes haywire at the toll station. After a short wait, a long receipt comes out asking for a transfer, which is OK too, it's done. The road toll is pretty hefty though: €80 for one trip to Florence and back, which is enough for us to drive for almost a whole year.

Then a gas stop for coffee and dolci and from Udine onwards the inevitable happened: in all of Italy, car traffic works by everyone looking at each other and sometimes moving aside. And as soon as you get home, many people - unfortunately including the Austrians - drive in the left lane and just act like moralizers. Why? Why?
