25th-27th day Cat Ba and Ha Long Bay

प्रकाशित: 22.03.2018

After Cat Ba we cross a moderately trustworthy ferry and arrive safely on the island.

Our accommodation is located in the National Park, which stretches almost across the entire island, apart from the coastal city.

In the afternoon, under a bright sunshine, we climb one of the nearby peaks and are rewarded with this view of the island.

Back in the valley, some hardy animals are waiting for their food and grumble like goats.

Early the next morning we set off on a hike across the entire island. We cross the jungle, which still houses many rare plants and animal species. They probably owe their existence to their ability to hide from humans, while we listen attentively to the lively activity in the forest. However, we were quite pleased that some jungle residents stayed away. At the beginning of our hike, we were warned about the many leeches, but we were spared.

We finally manage to capture one of the large cicadas that make a lot of noise.

When we reach the highest peak, we enjoy the view while a bird of prey circles around us.

We are offered our first view of Ha Long Bay, which consists of over 2000 of these small and larger islands.

Arriving in the village of Viet Hai (which can only be reached by boat), we finally return to Cat Ba City on a wooden ferry. Although we missed the last bus to the National Park, our hiking guide quickly organizes two seats for us on a long-distance bus that passes by the National Park anyway.

On the last day, we explore Ha Long Bay by boat, crossing the floating fish farms. Here, life takes place on the sea.

Not much walking the dog here..

No, this picture is not stolen from National Geographic.

A kayaking tour takes us through some caves under the cliffs, until we finally get to enjoy nature in completely untouched coves.

While swimming in the still cool water, we find a lonely beach in a great natural setting.

And in between, we enjoy the pleasant warmth of the sun on the sun deck.
After three impressive days, we say goodbye to a natural wonder and are now on our way to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam!
