Cairns and Surroundings

After arriving in Townsville, we camped by the beach where an older man gave us a coconut. The next day, we visited a market in Townsville where we could try fresh and delicious fruits. In the evening, we treated ourselves to a paid campsite and finally got to do some laundry and chill by the pool.

The following day, we had originally planned to see waterfalls, but due to poor signage, we couldn't find them and continued driving towards Mission Beach. There, we enjoyed the beautiful beach, had some food, and decided to spend the night. In the evening, we went for some drinks and then it rained heavily throughout the night.

After that, we drove up to Cairns. It was time for some shopping. By chance, we passed by a travel agency where a German lady was working, and she gave us some tips on what else we could see. In the evening, we finally went out to party.

Our first stop was Cape Tribulation, a huge rainforest that can only be accessed by ferry. We explored the beaches and rainforest there. On the way back, it started raining so heavily that we could hardly see the road. We had already chosen a camping site in advance, but it was initially difficult to find. Eventually, we saw a sign but it didn't indicate the exact direction! We found the right road based on the street name, but it turned out to be a terrifying road. We had never seen anything like it before, with dark forests and extremely steep hills up and down. It was impossible for us to drive on that road with our car, so we decided to sleep somewhere else.

Today, we visited the Milla Milla Falls, a gigantic waterfall that is also famous from shampoo commercials, and the Josefine Falls. It rained heavily all day today, but the good thing was that the waterfalls had a lot of water.
