Typical Kiwi 2.0

✖️There are different types of roads in New Zealand called T3 roads, where it is only allowed to drive if there are more than 3 people in the vehicle. This is checked almost everywhere with a camera.

✖️Good morning, good morning, good morning, sunshine, this night remained hidden from you, but you must not be sad...🎶(Sorry, had to be done)The first ray of light in the world hits New Zealand, to be precise the small town Rangitukia, located on the North Island.

✖️No matter where you are in New Zealand, you are never more than 110/119/128 km away from the sea. To avoid misinformation, I will give you the different information I found.

✖️If you were to say "I want to eat a kiwi", you would probably get some strange looks, because with "kiwi" only the person and not the fruit is meant. "I want to eat a kiwi-fruit." would be correct.

✖️Speaking of kiwi. The kiwifruit comes from New Zealand. - Far from it. It comes from China. (Who would have thought - Everything is made in China anyway) The fruit originally comes from China and was only introduced to NZ a few years ago (1959). The original name was "Chinese goosberry".

✖️It is not uncommon for people to walk barefoot in supermarkets, which makes them very likeable in my eyes.

✖️It is very convenient that you can scan and pay for items yourself in every supermarket and do not need a cashier.

✖️Plastic bags are given to you in large quantities and are free of charge unlike in Germany. 👎🏻

✖️"Hi there, how are you today?" you will be asked in New Zealand even at the cash register in the supermarket and everywhere else by everyone! However, it is simply New Zealand politeness and nothing more. A simple "Fine, thanks!" is sufficient. Although I usually still ask the question back (out of pure politeness, of course).

✖️There are two official languages in NZ. English and Maori.

✖️When taking the bus, you always have to signal to the bus driver that you want to get on, otherwise he may just drive past. So just raise your hand, wave, dance or do anything that comes to mind. Just kidding, but you know what I mean.

✖️I sometimes despair with locks because everything is the other way round. While driving, it has happened to me more than once that instead of indicating, I accidentally activated the windshield wipers. However, everything else is "wrong" too. Locks, toilets,... Every time I want to unlock a door, I have to think first which direction I need to turn the key.

✖️Conversations with the lovely Kiwis: Instead of a simple "yes" or "okay", they simply say "Yeah" 3 to 20 times. Unfortunately, I have now adopted this myself. Descriptions always begin with the words "Like this" or "Like that". Somehow cute. The Kiwis are just lovable.

✖️When I once talked about the German waste separation, everyone looked at me a bit confused and puzzled. Why? Well, because it's not separated here. Or rather, there is waste separation. Paper, plastic, bottles and cans go in one bin, and all other waste goes in the other bin.
