Unfortunately, even the most beautiful days come to an end, and today was the day we had to leave the campsite in Vlietland. But before that, we had fresh croissants and bread rolls from the campsite supplier. After a good breakfast, we got our motorhome Rudi ready again. Then we went to the city of Leiden and parked in a large parking lot, and then we cycled to the beach. Today, Marley was also allowed to come along. Packed with Finn in the bicycle trailer, Marley in the basket on Mom's luggage rack, and all the swimwear, we rode 11 km towards the beach. On the way, Dad had the idea of simply following two local beautiful female cyclists who obviously had swimwear with them... unfortunately, the plan didn't work out because after a few minutes they turned towards the nearby lake 😂. But with the help of the mobile navigation, we finally arrived in Katwijk aan Zee. For us, we walked a bit along the dunes until we reached the dog beach. Riding the bicycle trailer through the sand with sleeping Finn was a nice workout for Dad in the midday sun. Mom and Finn then struggled through the hot sand and got ice cream and drinks to cool down. After that, we all went into the water, and Marley enjoyed digging and fetching balls in the water. For lunch, we had to ride a little further with our bikes. Finn got to ride with Dad on the bicycle's rod, and he thought it was a great experience. At first, we only found fancy beach restaurants where the starters were already on the menu for 17€. But a nice Dutch lady gave us the necessary tips on how to find affordable food, and so we later enjoyed fries, burgers, and kebabs. Back at the beach, we spent the afternoon collecting seashells and swimming, and then we headed back (without detours). In the evening, we drove near Utrecht and spent the night in a quiet parking lot with many other motorhomes.
