We've arrived in the northwestern corner of the US (excluding Alaska). The area around Seattle in the state of Washington usually sees a lot of rain. We were lucky because the sun was shining when we arrived. This time, we booked a small private room through Airbnb - great! The house is located in Kent, a small town south of Seattle, and has a wonderful big garden that we were allowed to use. So we decided to take advantage of the great weather and just stayed in the garden. The room and bathroom are also great, and the fridge was filled with many delicious treats by the landlady.
We only went into the city the next afternoon because we had tickets. Yes, of course, it was women's football again. We could have watched baseball before that. But with a maximum of 15 degrees and constant rain, we decided to stay in "our" garden, as it was still sunny in Kent. But we had to watch football. The stadium was really old and worn out, completely different from Portland. There were at least 5,200 spectators and the atmosphere was okay, but really no comparison to the Thorns game. So we saw Seattle Reign against Orlando Pride. I was hoping to see Ali again. But unfortunately, she was injured and not there. Two US national players from both teams were also missing due to a training camp. Well, it was still the second against the third in the league, and I must say that our Allianz Women's Bundesliga doesn't need to hide. There were no goals, but it was still fun.
We also got to do some sightseeing. The market in Seattle was very nice, and there were plenty of nice restaurants to go to. There's also the oldest Starbucks in Seattle. The line was too long for us, though. Plus, we prefer to drink our coffee in "real" cafes if possible. The weather didn't let us down, and we only had to endure a short rain shower. So we took the car and passenger ferry to a nearby island to a nice little coastal town and had a delicious coffee. We also had vegan cake again - it was the cheapest 😂 and really tasty. However, I'm still glad that we're going back into nature tomorrow, even though we're reluctant to leave our beautiful accommodation.
