Tag 89: Forbidden City and Imperial Tombs

Нийтэлсэн: 05.06.2018

In the past, many emperors lived in Hue and the last imperial family of Vietnam also had their residence here. So today we visited the Forbidden City, where the emperors lived. It was actually inspired by the Forbidden City in Beijing, and I think you could see that. Everything was just a little smaller here. Afterwards, we went to a pagoda. According to Wikipedia, this should be the tallest pagoda in Vietnam, but we think it's just a rumor because we've seen higher pagodas here. Then we went to the first of three imperial tombs in the outskirts of Hue that we wanted to visit. This tomb looked like a huge temple complex. After visiting this complex, we headed to the second tomb. This tomb was characterized by a French architectural style. From there, we watched the sun disappear behind the hills. We quickly made our way back to the city so that we wouldn't have to ride our motorbikes in the dark. When we wanted to turn into the street of our hostel, we realized that it becomes a pedestrian zone in the evening. So we pushed our motorcycles the last few meters to the hostel.
