On the day of the excursion, I had my first mishap. I missed the exit and went one station further. But since it was only about 8km, I thought I could just go back to Obidos. (The train back would only come in 2 hours) So, I did. On the way there, you could already see the city from afar. It looks very beautiful because part of the city is in a castle that can be seen from a distance. When I finally arrived, I had something to eat and then walked along the city walls and strolled through the "main street" (the street with all the small shops). There, I drank a traditional cherry liqueur in a chocolate glass, but it wasn't really my thing. Unfortunately, I was in the town on the wrong day. From Thursday to Sunday, there is a kind of medieval market in a separate area, which I also visited. That would have been really cool, even though I wouldn't have understood anything. Well, after seeing everything possible, I wanted to make my way back. But there was a little problem. The train was supposed to come at 7:27 p.m. and it was also the last train for today that goes back to Lisbon. By 8:00 p.m., it still hadn't arrived, so I panicked because I was practically in the middle of nowhere. So, I looked for other ways to get to Lisbon. There was still a bus running from the neighboring town, where I originally hiked from to Obidos. So, I bought the ticket online and wanted to go. And around 8:15 p.m., the train back to Lisbon finally arrived. So, I unnecessarily panicked and wasted 10€. But well, I survived and was back in my hostel in the evening.
The next day in Lisbon was rather sobering. I woke up feeling sick. Headache, sore throat, and I felt really hot. So, I didn't do much that day. I only went to a pharmacy, ate something, and went to the supermarket. I spent the rest of the day in my bed.
On the following day, I originally wanted to take a day trip to Alcobaca, but since I was still feeling slightly unwell (I was feeling better), I didn't do it and continued exploring Lisbon at a slower pace. I went to Castelo de Sao Jorge, Conveto de Carmo, and the Belem district, where I mainly visited Mosteiro dos Jeronimos. (Of course, I also saw Torre de Belem and the monument of the Discoveries (Padrao dos Descobrimentos)
Of course, I ate well during all of this. I really felt like having lasagna, so I went to an Italian restaurant and it was worth it.
On my last day in Lisbon, I bought a tank top and a t-shirt and wandered around the shopping street. I also bought a gift, went to the beach (Praia de Carcavelos), and ate twice at the Time Out Market. Both times were very tasty. Once I had Asian noodles with chicken and the other time I had steak with fries.
In the evening of that day, I took the night train to Madrid, as the next destination is a family vacation in Conil. (So, I am visiting my family there)
This time, I even had a bed in the night train and it was much more comfortable than a regular seat. Of course, it was shaking, it wasn't very quiet, and it was crowded, but at least I could sleep!
Unfortunately, the night train was slightly delayed and I had to change stations in Madrid to get to Seville, so I missed the connecting train to Seville. Now, my schedule is messed up, but there are worse things.
Well, I am currently on the aforementioned train and looking forward to seeing my family!
