The Coconut and White Sand Beach are about a 20-minute taxi ride away. During our last visit here, we had already seen the White Sand Beach twice and thought we could have a taxi take us to the slightly more secluded Coconut Beach and then simply walk up the beach to the White Sand Beach.
Beach Day
Today, the weather didn't look very promising again, but we still took a taxi from our hotel and made our way to the beach. When we arrived there, the taxi driver insisted on picking us up at a certain time. However, since we didn't feel like adhering to a schedule, we politely declined. If you decide to have a taxi take you to the Coconut Beach and the driver tries to convince you that you won't be able to find a taxi from there unless he picks you up, don't worry. There are plenty of options to take a taxi at the White Sand Beach. If there isn't one available at the moment, the friendly Thais from the restaurants there are happy to call one for you.
Where is the beach, though?
When we arrived at the beach, we unfortunately realized that there was hardly any beach due to the still prevailing high tide. So we had to wait a little longer for our beach walk and settled down for a bit. A few meters away, we discovered a swing. Of course, I had to try it out ;)
Beach walk
As the tide slowly receded, we were finally able to start moving. The beach there simply gives you the feeling of being on a deserted island. There's hardly anything going on and the scenery is perfect as well. There isn't a single hotel in this section of the beach.
A short walk along the Coconut Beach and you're already at the White Sand Beach section. There's more activity here and we were also somewhat shocked by how it looked. Sandbags were piled up everywhere. We didn't remember it being like this. Not a particularly pleasant sight, so we didn't stay here for long and continued walking along the beach until we reached a small river that we had to wade through in order to continue. There was less activity here as well. We found a nice, completely empty spot where we stayed for a while, collected seashells, and watched a fisherman at work. As the sky gradually darkened, we started making our way back. Just as the downpour started, we reached the restaurant at the White Sand Beach, where we ate something good under an umbrella. After that, we had the nice owners call us a taxi and drove back to the hotel.
