After Melbourne the highlights followed quickly one after another. The first night after Melbourne we were spoilt with the luxury of an indoor pool on the campground. We had a marvellous day along the
Great Ocean Road. Seeing the splendid twelve apostles in the sunset lets you even forget the other hundred+ tourists. The next days we did some short walks along the coast in the Tower Hill Reserve and then moved on to the Grampians NP where we stayed for two nights. Besides the breathtaking lookouts and the sparkling waterfalls, we saw numerous animals. Especially the kangaroos let us observe them for
a long time. To our surprise, when we woke up the second morning four kangaroos were grazing next to our campervan.
The last thing missing on our trip was an outback experience. No trip to Australia is complete without that. Luckily we found an incredible spot near Mildura - named the Pink Lakes. It was a basic campground
(pit toilets and a table was all), but it had a fantastic atmosphere. We were able to camp facing one of the pink lakes.
We had nothing but the beautiful view and the whistling of the birds around us. Otherwise silence. Extraordinary. The pictures should speak for themselves.
In Mildura we started with our wine and meat experience. We enjoyed a few wine tasting at some wineries and we had a hard
time deciding if the barbecue tonight would be made with lamb, beef or kangaroo!
