Viana do Castello

High up on a hill above the city of Viana do Castelo stands the Cathedral of Santa Lucia. You can take a cogwheel train up the steep path. However, we are going by bus and then walking the rest of the way up many steps. You have a beautiful panoramic view of the city and the harbor. Visiting Santa Lucia is highly recommended. The huge colorful flower windows are the second largest in the world, and the ceiling paintings are simply beautiful. However, the electric candlelight automaton confuses us...

In the afternoon, we stroll through the old town and then continue on our way.
