Or rather, I meet Caspar David Friedrich. Or rather I meet Caspar David.
It is a day where everything is possible, nothing is required, everything can happen.
I start my day by going shopping. Yes, you heard it right. Greifswald has such wonderful shops. Certainly, there are the big chains, but individuality is emphasized in the many small shops.
But soon it will be time to head out to Eldena.
Eldena means, for me, seagulls,🦆 a sea breeze that tastes of salt, and not to forget Bockwurst with bread.🌭
So I drive a bit further. The snack stand directly on the beach doesn't have any Bockwurst today.
Well, that can't be, I explain to him kindly. Bockwurst belongs to the East and the Baltic Sea, just like the people who live here.
He understands and promises to improve.🙏🏼
On the way to Eldena, there are lots of football fans. Greifswald against Union Berlin. The city is bathed in blue and red. 💙❤️When I look at myself, I'm wearing the perfect outfit today. My favorite dress in red and blue.
In the afternoon, I want to visit an exhibition.🖼️
Not just any exhibition, no.
250 years of Caspar David Friedrich.
I quickly throw on some clothes, meaning shorts, a t-shirt, and a denim jacket.
As I'm locking my bike, I strike up a conversation with an older gentleman. When we part ways, he hands me a keychain in the shape of a peace dove,🕊️.
What a beautiful gesture, I think, and I say goodbye.
The exhibition is packed. No wonder, I think, today at the premiere, everyone wants to be the first or… pay nothing at all. After all, it costs nothing.
As soon as I enter the hallowed halls of the exhibition, I spot the line that weaves through the modern and huge building. All those people are actually waiting. Dammit, I've only planned for two hours.
But to my surprise, I see the gentleman with his companion already quite far ahead.
I boldly join them.
