For our last trip, we decide to go by car again, as there is no train connection and it is too far for the tuk-tuk this time!
Unfortunately, we don't see anything of Negombo, we have a lot of stress! We spend the remaining time from the first day with PCR tests and the mountain of documents we need to copy and print for entry into Thailand!
And on the second day, we spend hours at the clinic twice to get an X-ray.
It's really insane, we walk from room to room, wait forever, talk to mumbling doctors, and in between, we find ourselves at the cashier over and over again to pay for each step individually!
In the end, we get bad X-rays, the diagnosis that only a small piece of the ankle is broken, a thrombosis injection for the flight, and the realization that we should have another X-ray in Bangkok.
We are completely exhausted, pack for our flight, Ronny's new coconut oil for his hair leaks all over his clothes in the backpack, and after 2 hours of sleep, we drive to the airport in Colombo!
Spoiler: and we don't know yet that we got up for nothing because our flight will be delayed by 5 hours..
Now it's time to say goodbye again, the 30 days are already over! Thank you, Sri Lanka, it was a wonderful trip - we'll see you again!
Final thoughts from Katha:
"Wow, it's hard to know where to start! This island really blew me away. The landscape, both on the coast and in the highlands, is an absolute dream. The train rides, Turtlesday, our evening in Ella with the Innsbruckers, the evenings with Prem, the national parks, and the beaches - I love it! Once again, we met amazing people with their stories and had an incredibly great time! We are still in contact with almost all of our hosts and will definitely see many of them again ❤ Thank you, Sri Lanka!
Final thoughts from Ronny:
"When you have no expectations at all and then get so amazed, the headline could be: That was beautiful here! Sri Lanka has so much to offer, and during our road trip, we met wonderful people, learned a lot about the country and its people, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery on our tuk-tuk rides with the train. Sri Lanka now shares the first place with Georgia on my personal list. Absolute travel recommendation!"
