In the darkness of the night, we drove through small French villages and across long wheat fields. We wanted to go towards Le Havre, to see a bit of the other side of Calais before continuing to Paris. In Le Havre, I had enough of driving, so we looked for a place to sit and have a cozy coffee. Since Le Havre was a port city, there was also a large beach. We parked on an elevated parking lot and walked along the beach path until we found a quieter spot. Afterwards, we went back to the car because we wanted to stay here but needed to do some shopping. We forgot that it was Sunday, so we searched in vain for an open store. We ended up buying expensive water at a bar on the beach and then laid down there to catch up on some sleep.
Afterwards, we went back to our car in the meadow. If you walked across this meadow, you would come to a path that led into the bushes. Not knowing where we would end up, we went along this path armed with food - and luckily found another beautiful spot. The path reminded me a bit of a jungle, and when it opened up, you had a view of a piece of beach with the sea. There were only a few people around, so it was perfect for our dinner. We enjoyed the sunset on the meadow above and then slept in the car again. However, our sleep was interrupted in the middle of the night when a party bus stopped next to us. However, it turned out that the supposed party bus was just a normal station wagon with five people who had the music turned up to the maximum and were loudly singing along. French rap/hip-hop music at two o'clock in the morning. And it was so loud as if it was in our own car. It seemed like an eternity until they finally drove away.
