Peggy's Cove - Clark's Harbour

Објавено: 24.09.2021

When I wake up, I experience fog for the first time. There is no sign of the sunshine from the past days. The shower is powerful, and I pack my things in a good mood. I can do it in less than 10 minutes now. As the first guest of the fully booked motel, I leave this great place and drive cautiously because the fog is so dense. I don't want to encounter a moose on the road - that's my worst nightmare.

I take a 50 km detour to go to 'New Germany'. The place does not resemble 'Old Germany' in any way. I thought maybe there would be a bakery with specialities. But there's nothing like that. At least I take a selfie with the street sign.

I continue to the Bakery in LaHave, which is actually on the way. When I enter this remarkable store, a tempting smell hits my nose and I ask what it is. It's Pizza Pepperoni. I immediately order it and enjoy it outside, along with the interior. I can't remember ever eating anything so delicious from a bakery in Germany.

The lighthouse just a few meters away is the smallest I have ever seen. And because it is so tiny, they have built a museum right next to it - but it is closed. The visibility has improved a bit, but the visibility range is not great.

I pass by Liverpool and take a picture for Tom. He is a huge Liverpool fan. You really have to smile at the names of the places here. There is also Brooklyn, East and West Berlin, and Cornwall. And all of this on a small peninsula. You can't complain. The next lighthouse is located in Liverpool, as it is part of the lighthouse route. Here, the museum is directly attached to the tower, and there are even 2 public toilets downstairs. Very convenient.

Since I still have time and I'm a bit hungry, I take the exit from Highway 103 to Shelburne. There, at the Sea Dog Restaurant, I have a Tomato-Noodle-Hamburger soup with a Rootbeer. It sounds daring, but it tastes really good. And instead of margarine, they actually serve butter with the bread roll.

So I reach my accommodation in Clarke's Harbour, the southernmost point of my entire trip, refreshed and ready. Kim turns out to be the perfect hostess that the internet presented. I can use everything (fridge, living room, drinks), and she is a typical Canadian: warm, friendly, and interested. The conversation with her is the longest one I have had here - she couldn't escape from me either. After 2 hours, I know a lot about her and she knows a lot about me.

The surroundings here are just incredible. I take the car and visit a few points of interest. Scenes everywhere the eye can see. A neighbor has laid out carrots in his garden and a dozen deer come to eat them. The light and the atmosphere are just incredible. What a landscape down here, in the region known as the home of lobster in Canada.

And Kim makes me a tempting offer. For an additional $10, she will prepare a lobster breakfast for me tomorrow instead of a regular one. I would be crazy to decline that. The sunset a few meters away by the sea surpasses everything. The rocks covered in yellow seaweed make for a beautiful motif - just aim and shoot. And I'm looking forward to the lobster breakfast tomorrow like a little child. What a great choice here in Clark's Harbour. Even with dog Zoe.
