Dublin - the rough capital and its gem at the tip - 6 months in Ireland

Објавено: 08.05.2023

I was always told that Dublin is supposed to be a tough place. The people are different, behave differently and are not as nice as the rest of the people in Ireland. Arriving in Dublin, we made our way to our Airbnb, located on the eastern peninsula near Howth.

Over the next few days, we strolled through Dublin and visited various sights and talked about life. We visited the famous Guinness Storehouse and learned about the brewing process and the history of the black beer.

We didn't particularly like the beer, but we enjoyed the whiskey tour at the Teeling Distillery with a tasting at the end.

We visited the different churches of Dublin and learned a lot about the history of the city, settled by the Vikings in the 6th century. The Irish coffee at the Jameson Distillery was a dream experience, whiskey with coffee, best of both worlds!

The highlight of Dublin was Trinity College with the Book of Kells and the unique university library. Tens of thousands of books are collected here in oak shelves on multiple floors. Some relics were also shown, including a proclamation of Ireland's liberation from English oppression by Ireland's freedom fighters. Ireland is simply a rebellious country, it keeps showing itself!

Endless walks through the Docklands and through the alleys of Dublin later, we find ourselves back in Howth. The small coastal town is easily accessible by train and a cliff walk at sunset was definitely special. Ireland's summer was really showing off here, it was incredibly warm in Dublin at that time, wonderful!
