Day 8 - 29.07.2023 Grad Mokrice and Grad Podsreda

We actually just wanted to visit the Mokrice Castle. Unfortunately, contrary to what was stated on the website, the castle was closed. So we could only admire it from the outside, take a walk, and watch the golf courses and players.

Impulsively, we decided to drive about 30 minutes further to the Podsreda Castle in the Kozjanski Nature Park. The drive there was already exciting. We were the only car on desolate roads through the forest idyll. This time we were lucky and were able to visit the castle with an audio guide. There was a 'Castle Bingo' for the kids to solve, and they both managed to solve it with some help. There were interesting exhibitions such as paintings, glass, old toys, and nature pictures. After the visit, we had ice cream and coffee at the castle cafe.

Afterwards, we discovered a 2.5 km long educational hiking trail to the village of Grajska and spontaneously hiked downhill. When we arrived in the village or at the outskirts, we unfortunately had to hike uphill again back to the parking lot at the castle. Here too, there was a great forest idyll, animals, and plants, and a few interesting information boards. The detour was definitely worth it, even though we hadn't planned it beforehand :-)

So far, we have already made it to 6 castles. Let's see if we can visit more.
