Day 16 - September 19, 2023 Entry into Armenia and drive to just before Goris

A sunny morning greets us and a friendly ranger stops by for a moment. We have breakfast and drive to Akhalkaloki. Fill up here and buy a Georgian SIM card and exchange money. Then off to the Armenian border. Here we need patience, time and strong nerves. In addition to the mandatory liability insurance, we still have to declare our car through customs. Everything is controlled. Then we purchase an Armenian SIM card, say goodbye to the Australian couple and we're done, we're in Armenia. A bitterly poor country. Time seems to have stood still here since the Soviet Union. We set course for Goris and follow the Karabakh conflict on our cell phones, which doesn't stop us from continuing our journey. Unfortunately it's getting late and we can't make it to Goris. We find a nice parking space on a side road right by the river. 5367 km
