Weeks 5 and 6 of Farmwork
To conclude the 4th week, we treated ourselves to a visit to Timezone in Perth. A childhood dream come true! Timezone is a huge arcade with games like Tekken, Mario Kart, Singstar, Doodlejump, Guitar Hero, and much more. It was a lot of fun =) After that, we walked into the city because Winterland was set up there. Winterland is a two-week pre-Christmas event with an ice rink, cozy seats by the fire, and small stalls.
Australians celebrate the pre-Christmas season in July because it's simply too hot in December. We had a week off during the 5th and 6th week and wanted to do some traveling and camping. Unfortunately, the weather was simply too bad =(. It has been raining and hailing most of the time, and it's damn cold! So we spent our free week watching DVDs, cooking delicious meals, and getting our car checked at the workshop before continuing the journey in September.
Our car is doing great, except that one warning light always comes on and we hear a whistling sound near the brakes. After the workshop visit, it turned out that the sensor for the warning light has a small fault and the warning light should not actually come on. We could have the sensor repaired (approx. $270) or simply do nothing.
The workshop guy was really nice and didn't want to rip us off. He said he would leave it as it is. It should be noted that the warning light only comes on occasionally, and he told us that if the light continues to flash and does not go out, we should have another check. The whistling sound of the brakes is apparently caused by the brake booster, which is drawing in air somewhere. The price for this will still be given to us, but we were also advised to wait. It is not a serious fault and our brakes work perfectly fine! If we notice that our brake becomes slightly harder to press and the assistance of the brake booster decreases, we should have it repaired as well. We have decided to wait until we know how much it will cost to replace the brake booster, and then we will decide whether to replace it before our trip or wait. All in all, we are very satisfied and glad that no major repairs are needed.
