The air on the sheep farm or in the forests seems to do us good. For the first time since our first week of vacation, we all sleep longer than 8 o'clock. Maxima had to cough a little during the night. However, it went away without waking up.
We have a leisurely breakfast and Michi plays soccer with the kids. The morning flies by and we only start around noon. We really liked it here at Ayr Saileon. A really nice place to stay.
The drive to the Valley of Giants takes only about 15 minutes. With the stroller, we explore the Treetop Walk. A path of about 600 meters leads through the treetops of the huge Tingle Trees. The walk is worth seeing, but we liked the Ancient Empire Boardwalk even better. A very nice circular path through the "ancient" forest.
Although it is already late afternoon, we decide to take the Hilltop Drive. A tour through the forest on an unpaved road. The drive is very easy and designed as one way. We stop at the Giant Tingle Tree (a huge old burnt tree) and walk along the short circular path. Conclusion: Great forest experience!
As a campsite, we have chosen the Shannon National Park Campground today. We drive for about an hour. When we arrive, we are greeted by some kangaroos. The huge campground (68 pitches) is almost empty. We choose a nice spot in the forest (many places are still without trees, reforestation has been done due to a fire). I'm excited. I've been wishing for this since the Porongurup National Park (where camping is unfortunately not allowed). Samuel is also excited. We have our own fire pit and of course, we cannot miss the campfire tonight. Pure solitude! Only the forest, the animals, and US! Since it is already late, we have a quick meal (pasta with chicken).
