Today we travel further. Every night somewhere different. We actually didn't want to do that because you don't really have much of an accommodation option, but you can only do one thing, either change every day and drive short distances or drive long distances and stay in one place longer. I chose A.
Unfortunately this accommodation doesn't include breakfast, so we had to leave on an empty stomach. After a short dispute about which trail was our landlord's favorite trail (he told us that yesterday), the smarter one gave in, so me and we set off for the Middle Head Trail.
The trail is a 4 km circular route on a headland near Ingonish.
A really nice trail with lots of roots along the way and great views.
Through a fairytale forest
along the coast.
Another little scavenger hunt
and we are back at the car after a good 1 3/4 hours. With a growling stomach. It's now lunchtime and we want to try the lobster rolls at Salty Rose in Ingonish, which came highly recommended to us. Unfortunately the Salty Rose is closed and at the next rest stop we decide to eat the Caesar salad we bought two days ago, which has to go too. So we cruise along the Cabot Trail,
towards the rain,
hoping that the sun shines on the other side.
We actually wanted to do the 8km Skyline Trail, but since the clouds have cleared again and the sun is shining, I've been stopping at every viewpoint and taking photos.
while Shahaatz takes a nap. The unscheduled walk this morning further disrupted the schedule. So we decide to postpone the trail until tomorrow. It's stupid because we have to drive half an hour back, but then that's how it is. And as we stand at a viewing point in our bright yellow car, two familiar faces stop next to us. We paddled with the two of them yesterday. A quick chat and everyone goes their separate ways. Since the next accommodation is in Nirvana, we now decide to eat something and then drive to our B&B, the Yellow Sidecar. As always, we briefly research which restaurant is the best in Chêticamp and we stop at the 3rd best one. Now finally there is the lobster roll.
A brioche bun with lobster. Very tasty, but something for the hollow tooth.
After 20 minutes we reach our accommodation.
Brenda and Roger gave us a warm welcome. We have the upper floor all to ourselves. We enjoy the sunset with a beer on the mosquito-protected veranda.
