Day 15 (March 21, 2023)
Our first full day on Koh Tao was ahead of us. Before breakfast, we went to the reception and dropped off our laundry, which we could pick up the next day. We also rented a scooter again to see a bit of the island. After that, Ann-So had breakfast as usual at 7-Eleven, while Erik had discovered mango sticky rice for himself.
Since we will be covering some longer travel distances in the next few days, we planned the next few days after breakfast.
Once that was done, we set off. The first stop was the John-Suwan Viewpoint in the south of the island. We reached it after a short scooter ride and a 15-minute hike. When we arrived at the top, we could see the turquoise water in front of the white beaches. The nature of the island was also breathtaking. We enjoyed the view for some time and then started the descent. Since it was very hot, we could use a little cooling off at Freedom Beach, which is right next to the viewpoint and is one of the most beautiful beaches we have seen so far.
Afterwards, we were scheduled to go snorkeling with Paula at the pier. Near the pier, there was a sunken ship where we could swim and see many fish along the way. It was really impressive.
Back at the beach, we relaxed for a moment and played some frisbee. But the relaxation didn't last long, as the trees on the beach were infested with a lot of caterpillars that kept descending on us. Ann-Sophie eventually got tired of the secret attacks. So we went to find some food and then returned to the hotel.
In the evening, we ended the day on the beach with a sunset and a cold drink.
