Fiji rocks

Whakaputaina: 15.02.2018

Fiji has impressed us.. Fiji rocks.. Fiji is totally our thing. Everyone is super relaxed, very friendly, in a good mood.. you can only feel good here. Our own little hut with a cozy veranda was our home for the four nights from Thursday to Monday. Everything under palm trees: the pool, the hammocks, the beach loungers, the Coconut Beach Bar.. like vacation. 😉 Even though it was windy and cloudy on Friday and Saturday and even snorkeling was forbidden, we had a great time playing in the pool, relaxing in the hammock, etc.! Sunsets like in a picture book.. In the evenings, there were dances and singing by the locals.. a dream here.

Then Sunday was completely sunny again. We went for a hike to the next village that day, attended a church service there, and took a look at how the locals live. Exciting! The rest of the day was all about soaking up the sun, snorkeling, enjoying the sunset, etc.! Bliss!

Monday was equally beautiful weather, which we enjoyed on Octopus Island in the morning before we sailed to the next island. From Monday, we stayed on Mantaray Island for two nights, where we also had our own hut in the green. Relaxing on the beach and in the hammock was also a major activity here, only snorkeling and diving for Nadia were even bigger. A reef right on the beach that is unparalleled.. like it couldn't be painted any better.. shoals of fish, colorful fish in a huge variety, beautiful corals, even Bob, the whitetip reef shark, who supposedly lives there, and even an octopus.. amazing!! Flo couldn't get out of the water anymore.

Nadia's dives were also adventurous.. once wreck diving, which was a great experience, and the other two times experiencing the reefs in (much) deeper water. Actually, Nadia is only allowed to go "only" 18m with her diving certification, but the dive went to over 25m.. Fiji Time! 😛

Fiji Time at this time also means cyclone time, which we also noticed here. On Tuesday afternoon, Flo helped the locals and staff to pull the boats out of the water.. so it seemed to be getting serious somehow. But luckily, the cyclone missed Fiji, although the wind was still quite strong and the crossing by ferry on Wednesday to Treasure Island was partly borderline. The strong waves did not prompt the captain to reduce speed at all.. numerous passengers filled the distributed bags, in some cases, it threw you halfway out of your seat.. but after almost 2.5 hours, we finally arrived at the next island in paradise.

Treasure Island will be our home for the next four days.. in our own beach hut, with hammocks in the garden, beach chairs on the terrace overlooking the sea.. simply unbelievable!
