Iguazú (24.1.-28.1.21)-Day 1

Whakaputaina: 29.01.2021

Hello dear ones,

We embarked on a short trip to Iguazú, just 1.55 hours of flight from Buenos Aires, but a completely different world...

First of all, we forgot the camera that we brought with us from Germany in the taxi. That didn't start well, but the taxi driver picked us up again from the airport and kept it for us, but still quite annoying...

We had a reliable taxi driver for the 4 days, who was always ready to help us or take us somewhere. First, we went from the airport to the hotel, a lodge located in a jungle-like landscape, the jungle feeling is already guaranteed. After that, we immediately set off to visit the Güira Oga rescue station for local animal species. We were driven through the jungle in a tractor with a trailer, where the animals are housed as close to their natural habitat as possible. Most of them only spend their time here until they can be released back into the wild. The most amazing thing about this trip was seeing all the animals that live here, which you probably won't see, but they're there... apart from those at the rescue station, there are also tapirs, crocodiles, jaguars, foxes, deer, etc., that live freely here. A guide in the national park told us that he has seen a wild jaguar twice in his life, once as a child when he lived in a jungle village, and once as an adult... so they really exist here!!!

In the evening, we went to 'Hito Très Fronteras'. Here, the countries of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay meet at the Paraná River and the Iguazu River. The Iguazú River has brown water, the other one doesn't. Each country has its own viewpoint. In Brazil, we could see a lot of people partying (in Brazil, you can travel within the country however you want despite Corona), there was not much going on in Argentina due to Corona, and we couldn't see anyone in Paraguay. The Tancredo Neves Bridge connects Brazil with Paraguay, but it's already old. Currently, a new one is being built, there is no bridge to Argentina.
