Whakaputaina: 19.01.2018
After waking up at 7am again, we took the train to Auckland's botanic garden.
In the morning, it was still relatively cloudy and we dressed warmly in anticipation of another rain shower with cold wind.
In the 64-hectare garden, we were greeted by various scents, a true cricket concert, butterflies, dragonflies, and beautiful colors. The sky cleared up more and more over time, and in our long-sleeved shirts, we actually started to sweat. Within a short time, it felt like 30 degrees Celsius, just as we imagined summer in New Zealand.
Around noon, we strolled through Auckland, freshly covered in sunscreen and dressed in shorts and a top. The highlight of the day was, quite literally, the Skytower. Once at the top, we could see all of Auckland and even Waiheke Island.
We ended the evening comfortably with burgers and apple cider, together with Alicia.
The backpacks are packed and tomorrow we're off on our adventure. I will report back... ;)
