Actually, we wanted to go to Sarajevo. The weather is supposed to get better and according to Google Maps, there is a charming campsite 3 km from the city center, at the beginning of the mountains. Just like before, it's simple but charming with nice owners.
We follow the route and when we arrive, we find .... nothing!
Instead of the campsite, there is now an amusement park. It definitely brings in more money. Due to lack of alternatives and because contrary to the forecast, it's 17 degrees and drizzling, we quickly turn our back on Sarajevo and continue on to Mostar.
The next day we ride our bikes to Mostar. We stroll through the Bazaar, don't buy anything, and go to a tourist trap for a very decent meal (veal skewers, traditional Bosnian specialties, stuffed peppers and grape leaves, mashed potatoes).
On the way back to the bikes, we buy a new handbag for Katja.
On the second day, we take a trip to Blagaj. Another tourist village 15 km southeast of Mostar, by the Buna river.
Finding safe routes with a bike in Bosnia is difficult. We use Google Maps and set it to pedestrian mode. That leads us past Mostar airport and into a restricted area. So we go back to the main road and after one kilometer, we turn off into the hills. We sweat our way through vineyards and hardly encounter any cars, wonderful!
