Until Monday, I was wwoofing in Martinborough with Sue and Wim. Wwoofing involves working in exchange for food and accommodation. It was a nice change and especially good for my wallet. I worked about 4-5 hours every day, starting around 8 in the morning, and then I had the afternoon free. For example, I would weed the garden or help Wim trim trees or help Sue with household chores. Sue seemed to bake every day, so there was always plenty of food. Since the weather was quite bad all week, I didn't do much else! So I didn't see much of Martinborough itself or the Wairapara region. What a shame! But I can always go back. Instead, I spent almost the entire time on the vineyard with Sophie and Jack, Sue and Wim's very inactive and attention-seeking dogs. At least I had some time to learn a bit about wine making. Although I have to admit that I've already forgotten half of it. Unfortunately, I could only stay for a week, so I'm already back in Wellington.
Here, I'm trying to find a job, although it might not be easy in this city, as it seems like every cafe is hiring baristas but hardly any waiters. So today, I spent half of the day writing a good resume, which I can then send to a few restaurants tomorrow and in the next few days. Hopefully something will come up. Otherwise, I'll continue to the South Island.
