Day 4 - First visit in Nordfjordeid

Whakaputaina: 25.11.2019

The AIDA was cleared for landing at 8 am. We were still asleep and only partially heard the captain's announcement. We had a deep sleep throughout the night.

At 10 am, we went to the market restaurant for breakfast. It was completely empty and we had the most amazing view - surrounded by mountains, some with snow-covered peaks. After that, we left the ship at 11 am. We didn't book any excursions through AIDA today. We briefly considered it last night, but many of the excursions that interested us involved long bus rides and short stops. And they were a bit too expensive for us (150€ per person). But we made the right decision because the weather was fantastic (20 degrees and sunny). It couldn't have been better. So we explored the town on our own. First, we took a walk along a fjord inlet. We got to see real Norwegian life. Large houses, some with yards and horses, school children, people sitting on their balconies. This town (by the way, it has about 3000 inhabitants - the same as on the AIDA) is completely undeveloped for tourism and is in no way comparable to Bergen. You experience real life here. We are completely impressed by this place because we rarely see such a beautiful landscape.

Then we walked through the small shopping street of Nordfjordeid. There are some cafés, plenty of places to eat, and a few souvenir shops. Suddenly, we found ourselves in a pet store (similar to a pet supply store) and bought Norwegian dog treats for our Beagle back home. By the way, she's enjoying a week of wellness at her grandparents' house in Berlin.

There was everything you need to live there, two hardware stores, a small shopping center, supermarkets, and even two gas stations.

Almost every resident has a beautiful little house built on the slope, lined up next to each other. We walked a bit in that direction and suddenly found ourselves at the top of the mountain. I have to say, we were quite exhausted when we got to the top. There were incredibly steep concrete paths leading up. But the view of the AIDA and the mountains is beautiful. Then we walked back down and slowly made our way back to the ship. We were back by 3:45 pm - time flies. Unbelievable. Once back on the ship, we treated ourselves to a burger at Fuego. The fresh air made us hungry, and we had walked over 10km again. Afterwards, we had a cocktail at the Lanaibar and read a few pages. We even had the chance to sunbathe again. It was so warm today that we could even have dinner outside at the Weite Welt restaurant. It tasted even better with the view as well.

We left about 30 minutes late. I think the dock workers were a bit overwhelmed with the ship's departure. They weren't sure how to untie the ropes. But they can practice. The AIDA ships will be coming regularly now.

We had great seats outside at the 5element bar. This departure from the harbor is amazing. We rarely see something so beautiful, and at times, I felt like I was entering a different life at this place.

We ended the evening on board and were completely thrilled - with the tour and the ship.

We are truly amazed - by the tour and the ship!
