Pérignon – Vezac

The night was quite cool and when I first looked out the window in the morning there was no sun shining, no, the valley was in thick fog and there was no sign of the castle. Shortly before 10 a.m. the sun's rays came through. The pool was open from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. that morning and since it was heated, I threw myself straight into my bikini after coffee. The sun was now shining from the sky and the still cold air made the heated water steam. The bathroom was great!

The evening before we had decided to spend the last few days in the area and before we had any other thoughts, we had booked a place, “Les 5 Chateaux” - the name gives an idea of the view from the place. We reached the place after a 2 km drive, it was located directly on the Dordogne, there were hardly any guests left, it felt like it was free standing, only with a pool, sanitary facilities and electricity.

After a hearty breakfast including trying a foie gras tin and a small pastis, we cycled along the Dordogne, first to La Roque-Gageac and then on to Domme. All these villages and the views are simply amazing, a really beautiful area.

In the morning we were woken up by the sound of hot air balloons firing. In fact, they drove right next to us along the Dordogne before disappearing just above the treetops. Of course, a racing bike ride was also a must. After what felt like every curve, I was amazed again at this breathtaking area. In the afternoon we went with water shoes into the Dordogne, which flows past us, while the laundry dried in the warm air.

The next morning we extended our stay and went on another discovery tour by bike. Through small villages, past castles and palaces and many, many walnut trees.

Back on the square we experienced a surprise of a different kind. Stink bugs had spread in large numbers and populated everyone and everything in the square. We tried to free Louise from the critters from outside, but there were so many in the air that it was practically impossible. Such insects find a way everywhere and a camper like this has some cracks and openings. I don't want to say any more about it; At the time we didn't know that it would take days to get all these critters out of the car.
